Bryce Dallas Howard to make feature directorial debut

Bryce Dallas Howard is looking to follow in her dad's footsteps from before the camera to behind it.

Variety reports that the Jurassic World actress will make her directing debut on an adaptation of the novel Sorta Like a Rock Star. The film is in early development and doesn't have a distributor, but sources said Howard will direct if the movie goes forward.

The story centers on an optimistic high school student named Amber Appleton who secretly lives in her mother's school bus during her senior year after a fight at home.

Howard has directed a a few short films along with the music video for M83's "Claudia Lewis" starring Lily Collins, but this would mark her full-length debut. Her short film, When You Find Me, made the Oscars short list. Howard also acted in movies including The Help and M. Night Shyamalan's The Village. She'll also be in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Of course, her father Ron Howard starred on Happy Days before he went on to become one of the most sought-after directors in Hollywood with movies like Willow, Apollo 13, and The Da Vinci Code. He's currently helming the Han Solo prequel for Lucasfilm.

Until we hear more, find out which DC character Bryce Dallas Howard expressed interest in playing in the Harley Quinn spinoff Gotham City Sirens.
