Coronation Street fans stunned as another exit 'confirmed' last night

Coronation Street fans were reeling last night after it appeared Bethany Platt had made a shock exit from the cobbles.

The vulnerable teen had recently travelled overseas with her mum Sarah, her boyfriend Gary and little Harry.

In one of the soap's most dramatic storylines, Bethany had been put through the wringer as she testified against her abuser Nathan Curtis in court - before seeing him ultimately convicted.

Following the conclusion of the trial, the teenager and her family flew off to visit her great uncle Stephen in Italy.

But now it appears that she may not be coming back, leaving her mum devastated.

Scenes shown last night showed Sarah, Gary and Harry returning from their visit to Milan, with the news that Bethany was planning to stay where she was - for good.

There's been no official confirmation that Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany, has exited the soap - so there's a chance that the teen will opt to return to the cobbles once again.

But fans became concerned that they wouldn't be seeing any more of the character.

It comes as Rita Tanner got the results of her recent medical tests.

Two months ago, the iconic Coronation Street character was told she had a brain tumour and viewers had been waiting to see the outcome of recent medical tests.

Doctors gave her the happy news that the tumour was benign and there were emotional scenes in The Rovers as the Kabin stalwart shared the good news.
