Couple scoop £115 million win in EuroMillions

Winning £115 million is the perfect way to start 2019 off, right?

Today, Friday 4th January, it was announced at a Press Conference that Northern Irish couple Frances and Patrick Connolly were the lucky winners of the New Years Day EuroMillions draw - winning a whopping £115 million pounds (give or take a few pounds!).

The couple who are from Moira, Country Down are now the fourth biggest National Lottery winners in UK history.

They told the press today that they have written a list of 50 people they will be sharing their lottery winnings with, including their close friends and family as well as charitable causes.

When speaking of the draw on New Years Day Patrick Connolly says he had to go and check online to ensure it wasn't a scam. "We just stared at each other for 10 minutes," Frances Connolly said. The couple also joked about how they had only won £2.60 in the lottery the week before.

"For the minute I'm retired!" Patrick Connolly said when asked about his future. The couple are planning to share the money and also enjoy some indulgences for themselves - well, who wouldn't?

The winning numbers were 01, 08, 11, 25, 28 and Lucky Stars 04 and 06. The couple said they had selected them at random - brilliant news to start the year off!
