Exclusive: Kehlani — I’m Proud To Be In An Openly Queer Relationship
Just one week ago, it was reported that the “Love & War” singer and her husband of nine years, Vincent Herbert, were calling off their marriage.
Despite the troubling reports, Braxton performed during Sunday night’s 2017 Soul Train Awards and left her heart on the stage. “As an artist you have to take that and you have to support your performance,” her sister, Trina, told HipHollywood on the red carpet. “You have to let all that other stuff go.”
Trina further admitted that “we’re spending a lot more time together. It’s sometime good, sometimes not so good. It’s been not so good lately.”
HipHollywood also caught up with Braxton’s mother, Evelyn, who unveiled that prayer is how she has been supporting her youngest daughter. “It’s all I know to do,” she told us. “If anything else, let me know.”
It was a huge night for the famous family — not only did Tamar perform, but her older sister, Toni, was the recipient of the Don Cornelius Legend Award. “To have her being paid homage to after over 20 years of being in the industry is amazing, Trina said of the special moment.
Mama Braxton added, “it’s about time.”
Other big performers from the night included 112, Sevyn Streeter and Luke James.
The show, hosted by Erykah Badu, airs on November 26 on BET at 8pm.
