Jay Z Finally Has Something To Say About Solange Elevator Fight
It’s been three years since the world watched Solange open a can of whoop A on her brother-in-law, Jay Z, while inside the elevator at The Standard in New York. And now, after only sort of addressing the fight in his music, the rapper is opening up more about the family feud.
During an interview with Rap Radar over the weekend, Hov suggested, “I fought my brothers and argued with my brothers my whole life. It just so happens, who we are, these things go into a different space, but it ain’t nothing.”
Jay has yet to confirm exactly what the fight was about, but he did state the obvious: There was a disagreement. “We had one disagreement ever,” the father of three claimed. “Before and after we’ve been cool. She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister, not my sister-in-law, my sister.”
Following the 2014 scuffle, it was rumored that the “disagreement” stemmed from Jay’s infidelity, something the rapper slightly discussed on his new track, “Kill Jay Z.” He raps, “You egged Solange on/Knowin’ all along, all you had to say you was wrong/you almost went Eric Benet/Let the baddest girl in the world get away.”
Beyonce has also drawn reference to the infamous brawl on the “Flawless” remix, singing, ““We escalate, up in this bi*ch like elevators / Of course sometimes sh*t go down when there’s a billion dollars on an elevator.”
