Latest leaked Sony emails highlight 'unpleasant' truths about Ben Affleck's past

Catchup News learns today that Ben Affleck requested TV bosses to conceal information that one of his ancestors was a slave owner, according to a new set of Sony emails leaked by hackers. When will the hacking end! The word hack has almost lost all meaning! Anyway, the Oscar-winning director and actor demanded that producers leave some of the details about his heritage out of his story for TV show Finding Your Roots. Which seems like a pretty poor attempt at “show the good stuff, hide the bad stuff” - which could also be related to Affleck’s IMDB page. The request made by Affleck apparently upset Henry Louis Gates, the host of the show, a Harvard history professor and a scholar of African and African American history but the details were eventually omitted from the broadcast. But, skeletons don’t stay in the closet very long in Hollywood, especially with those damn hackers about, and the relevant emails were published by WikiLeaks. According to the emails, Affleck’s ask led Gates to contact Sony, the film company behind blockbuster Batman v Superman. It sounds more like a threaten than an ask, if you ask/threaten us. The thing is, if you heritage is White American, your heritage is going to be shady, there’s no getting away from that. We just can’t help but think that this effort to hide such blatant history makes present day Affleck look... well, shady. More from Catchup News next.
