Madonna posts nude photo on Instagram to protest censorship
Catchup News was unsurprised to hear today that Madonna has taken a swipe at Instagram’s censorship rules by posting a nude photo of herself with a black bar covering her breasts. We suspect the hashtag #FreeTheNipple will show it’s face pretty soon. The queen of pop criticised the “hypocrisy” of social media in a provocative post showing all of her body exposed except for her nipples. Oh, our mistake, the nipple is not getting freed anytime soon. Unlikely, nipple. The post was accompanied by a caption which read “Why is it ok to show ass but not breasts? Drowning in the hypocrisy of social media.” She’s right, there are deep waters and no lifejacket. Madonna added the hashtags #artforfreedom and #unapologeticb**ch, which at this point we think is somehow mandatory, though we’re not completely sure why.
Instagram has been at the forefront of a #freethenipple’ campaign championed by celebrities including Scout Willis, who raised the profile of the campaign when she walked through New York topless in protest at having her Instagram account shut down ... due to a jumper showing bare breasts. Ah grow up Instagram, you’re ruining the fun for everyone. And a girl shouldn’t have to walk through New York bare chested, its bloody freezing. More from Catchup News next.
